AIPMT Syllabus–An Overview

AIPMT exam syllabusThe All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is an entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Students aspiring to get admission in MBBS and BDS courses need to appear for the respective examination. Clearing the examination, students are eligible to 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental Colleges across the country, excluding Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh.

Students are also eligible to occupy seats in participating states, universities and institutions. The following table displays the AIPMT Syllabus students need to go through before they appear for the examination.

The CBSE conducted NEET in 2013; however, they returned to the original exam format in 2014.

How to apply for AIPMT?

Candidates interested in appearing for the AIPMT need to fill out an application form online on the official website of the examination – www.aipmt.nic.in

AIPMT Exam Date and Pattern

AIPMT entrance exam is tentatively conducted in the month of May every year. Applications are open from December the previous year and Admit Cards are available in April. Students can download their Admit Cards from the official website of the examination.

The exam has 180 multiple choice questions in all with each question carrying 4 marks. The paper is available in English as well as Hindi. Syllabus for AIPMT basically comprises topics studied in high school and intermediate level. There is negative marking of one mark for every wrongly answered question while there is no deduction of marks in case a question is not attempted. Candidates with a score of more than 520 can get admitted into medical colleges.

Preparation

Students find it difficult to prepare for the entrance examination since the syllabus is vast. However, with technological advancement and the availability of online test series, the life of students becomes easier. They get an understanding of the exam pattern and are also able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses. Test series should definitely be attempted by students as they boost confidence level and ensure that exam fear on the final day is less.
