The JEE ADVANCE exam, which is taken from the year 2018 for admission to the reputed IIT’s, is being done completely online. This decision was taken by the JAB (joint admission board) on Sunday.
On Sunday 20th August, a decision was taken about the future of more than 2 lakh IIT aspirants’ students. Perhaps these decisions can prove beneficial for some students or it can snatch a smile of some students.
The biggest reason behind taking this decision was that the mistakes happened in JEE Advance 2017 should not repeat again.
Errors of some questions of 2017 JEE Advance Paper prompted changes – said by officials.
Officials also say that online exams will prove to be very helpful in preventing and avoiding such mistakes which had happened this year.
And due to these mistakes, the Joint Admission Board had given 18 bonus points to all the students who attended the JEE Advance examination. And the only reason to give these bonus points was the printing and translation mistakes.
The JAB official is fully convinced that the online version will completely follow Accuracy and Transparency.
Students do not need to panic for the JEE Mains (the qualifying exam of Advance) because it is also decided in the meeting that candidates of JEE Mains – 2018 exams will be allowed to take online along with offline version.
This year more than 1.5 lakh students had given the examination of the JEE Advance and due to the mistakes in the question paper of this entrance examination, the authorities temporarily banned the admission in the IIT colleges.
These mistakes were pointed out by some group of students who forced the authorities to think about that decision.
In July 2017, a petition was filed by the students regarding the errors of the JEE Advance paper in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decided in favour of the students and directed the JAB to give bonus points to the students for every wrong question of the question paper and asked the authorities to prepare such mechanism that these type of mistake could never happen in the future.
JEE Advance online version is the result of the same directive from the Supreme Court.
According to the officials, online version has many advantages –
- This will make the evaluation process of students very precise.
- The logistics process will be very simple.
- It will be very safe because there will be no chances of leaking the question paper.
- The process of JEE Advance results will be quite fast. So far students have to wait for 2 months.
- Students can correct his answer easily, it was difficult to correct the answer after filling OMR bubble in the offline vesion.
But in all this, the biggest problem facing the JAB is how to get the computer available for all students in such a quantity.
